Playa Sun Bay Below is one of the beaches that attract many visitors throughout the year. |
|
East of Esperanza this is easily the most popular of the dozens of beaches that ring Vieques. Its white sands skirt a mile-long, crescent-shape bay. You'll find food kiosks, picnic tables, and changing facilities. On weekdays, when the crowds are thin, you might also find wild horses grazing among the palm trees.
Playa Sun Bay is a protected cove formed by Cay de Tierra and Punta Negra. Pink and coral sands comprise the mile-long stretch of beach and the water is calm and clear. Tropical vegetation, including coconut palms, line the beach creating a beautifully lush backdrop. The views from the beach are spectacular and include visages of two offshore cays and Mount Pirata. Although Puerto Rico offers some more secluded beaches that Playa Sun Bay the natural setting, personality and atmosphere provided by this location could be what you are looking for. Even though Playa Sun Bay is not particularly secluded, visitors will find fewer people here than on many of Puerto Rico's other beaches. This means that, although it may not be right for a romantic stroll, you'll find this beach is a great alternative to more popular or urban beaches. |
